Microsoft Office Starter 2010

Solid-state storage drives

Solid-state storage drives (SSDs) use Flash memory rather than traditional magnetic storage. So they are lighter than traditional drives, use less power and offer improved performance (faster boot times, faster access to stored data). And since they have no moving parts, solid state drives are considered less susceptible to damage or breakdown.

SuperSpeed USB 3.0 ports

SuperSpeed USB 3.0 enables up to 10 times faster file transfer, allowing for lightning-fast copying of large media files, as well as seamless connections between audio- and video-related peripherals. Transfer speed also increases when copying from external USB keys, external hard drives, external optical drives, digital cameras, and other peripherals. All USB 3.0 ports are backwards-compatible with USB 2.0 devices.

Select T Series models include Optimus technology, which automatically switches to the built-in NVIDIA graphics card only when it’s needed. Get extended battery life without sacrificing high performance graphics for applications, high-def videos, 3D games, and more.

Switchable graphics

Get improved battery life and lower energy consumption than discrete graphics systems with switchable graphics (on select models). And don't worry; switchable graphics are easy to use. You can toggle with the hot-key between Performance or Power Saving graphics modes, or switch via the software user interface. No reboot is required to switch modes, and one unified driver covers both discrete and integrated graphics.

LED backlit displays

The latest in display backlight technology, LED backlit displays are thinner, lighter and use less power than traditional notebook displays, but still provide the same level of brightness for easy viewing.

Multitouch panel

The optional Multitouch panel is available on select T Series models. Offering the latest in touch technology, this panel features a 270 NIT display. Use one- and two-finger gestures to pan, zoom, rotate, right-click and more. Plus it has enhanced sensitivity and accuracy for effortless usability.

Roll-cage technology

ThinkPad® notebooks get their solid feel thanks to innovative ThinkPad roll-cage technology, a collection of durability features that adds extra strength and rigidity to the notebook shell and top cover.

Hard/storage drive impact protection

ThinkPad® notebooks use a rubber isolator and metal cage to protect the hard/storage drive. Our Active Protection System™ (on models with traditional magnetic hard drives) uses an accelerometer to monitor movement of the system and stop the drive, to help protect against damage when a fall or similar event is detected.

Shared docking station with other ThinkPad Series

Select T Series laptops share common docking stations with select models with the ThinkPad X, L, and W Series, which can save on equipment costs and make managing parts numbers easy. Long battery-life for all-day computing

Get all-day computing on select ThinkPad T Series models — up to 24 hours with external slice battery on the T420/T520 and up to 9 hours on the T420s.

Combined hardware/software security

Select ThinkPad® models feature the Trusted Platform Module 1.2, Client Security Solution software and the integrated Fingerprint Reader for a seamlessly integrated security package. Additional available security features include 32-byte pre-boot passwords and the ability to disable input/output ports at the BIOS level.

Integrated Fingerprint Reader

The integrated Fingerprint Reader lets you access your password-protected system with a simple swipe of the finger. And it works with the standard Trusted Platform Module hardware and Client Security Solution software to provide a seamless, top-to-bottom security package.

Password management software

Password Manager lets you store various passwords for safekeeping and easy access, and can be tied into the optional integrated Fingerprint Reader.
